2023 - The Year of the Water Rabbit

Updated: Jan 27

Goodbye Tiger Energy of 2022. Hello, Rabbit Energy of 2023!

The Water Rabbit's energy is calmer than that of the Tiger. 2022 was a year of setting firm boundaries, standing on those boundaries, and developing our inner strength. Now we are moving into a more peaceful period in the calmer waters of the water rabbit. The Rabbit is one of the luckiest of the Chinese Zodiac Signs. Expect the unexpected during 2023, but always remember that lady luck is on your side. This year we are letting go of our fear of the unknown and trusting our intuition to guide us in order to make wiser decisions for ourselves and those we are aligned with.

Peace and prosperity will be the main focus for the year. Spending time with your soul family and friends may also become a priority within 2023. It's time to make peace with yourself and others. The element for 2023 is Water. This will be a year of connecting to our yin spirit, meditating, and trusting the guidance of our intuition. My advice to any empath during this season is, "observe, but do not absorb." because many may be ultra-sensitive in this season. It's okay to be gentle, kind, and loving; yet still set and maintain firm boundaries with toxic friends or loved ones.

Joy and bliss are available to you during this season if you are ready to receive them. The trick is to be strong, yet flexible. Bend, but don't break. Yoga might be a great option for many at this time. Remember that you are responsible for your own happiness, so don't place your happiness in anyone else's pocket or purse.

The Rabbit is indeed artistically clever when it comes to time and resources. Use the energy of this year to upcycle your life. Bargains are sure to find us this year. Be careful not to fall for the cunning salesman though. This year is a great time for a makeover or to change up your fashion routine.

Story of the 12 Chinese Zodiac Signs

Twelve animals represent the Chinese zodiac signs. There are many versions and variations of the story of how the Chinese zodiac signs came to be. One myth tells of a celestial race that was hosted by the Jade Emperor for his birthday. The race was to set measures for the zodiacs and there would be only 12 winners. Whichever order they came in was how they would remain. The animals had to cross a rapid river in order to get to the finish line.

Boom! So, the story goes that Rat saw that it would be difficult for him to cross so he asked Ox for a ride. Ox agreed to give him a ride across the river. Once they reached the other side, the Rat jumped off and ran to the finish line before Ox, which gave him 1st place and the first to be accepted into the Zodiacs. Rabbit actually got to the finish line before everyone, but since no one was there he thought he had plenty of time to take a nap. He ended up in fourth place behind Ox (whom Rabbit poked fun of due to his slow movements) came in 2nd place and Tiger came in 3rd; followed by Dragon in 5th place, Snake in 6th, and Horse in 7th. Soon after, Money, Rooster, and Goat landed on shore after helping one another to the other side. Goat came in 8th place, Monkey in 9th place, and Rooster in 10th place. Dog was busy having fun in the Sun and playing in the river so he came in 11th place; and just as the Jade Emperor was about to close the race, Pig oinks and becomes the last one to cross the finish line in 12th place.
