DJEHUTY Prayer of Reverence

Oh great Ntr Djehuty,

God of wisdom, knowledge, and writing,

We come before you in reverence and awe,

For you are the patron of scholars, scribes, and all who seek understanding. With your ibis head and your pen and palette,

You guide us in our quest for truth and enlightenment,

And bless us with the gifts of intelligence and creativity. We offer you our humble prayers and devotion,

And ask for your wisdom and guidance in all our endeavors,

That we may honor you with our words and deeds,

And serve your divine purpose in this world. Blessed be the name of Djehuty,

Ntr of the written word and the spoken thought,

May your wisdom and knowledge always enlighten our path.

As I speak it, it is so, so mote it be.

Djehuty (Thoth) is the ancient Kemetic/Egyptian Nrt (god) of wisdom, knowledge, writing, and magick. He is often depicted as a man with the head of an ibis or a baboon. Thoth was believed to be the inventor of writing and the patron god of scribes. He was also associated with the moon, time, and the measurement of the seasons.

Djehuty was considered to be a mediator between the gods and humans, and he was believed to have the power to heal and protect. In art and literature, Djehuty was often portrayed as a wise and powerful figure, and he remains an important symbol of knowledge and learning even in modern times.
